The Trial

First edition in English of this classic dystopian novel by Franz Kafka, about a man, Josef K., who is arrested for a crime that is never revealed to him or the reader. K falls victim to  a mindless bureaucracy and unreasonable authority. Posthumously published, thanks to Kafka's friend and literary executor, who ignored Kafka's requests to destroy his unfinished works after his death. Translated from the German by Will and Edwin Muir. Octavo original blue cloth with title stamped in blue on spine.

Hardcover. First Edition, First Printing. London: Gollancz, 1937. Jones & Newman, Horror: The 100 Best Novels (34). #11093.
Very good copy with straight, tight binding, with some creases to some preliminary pages. Minor soil marks to front and rear panels and along spine, but overall very presentable, sound copy. Scarce.
