The Dawn's Delay

The Dawn's Delay is a collection of three novellas by Hugh Kingsmill and includes "The End of the World", a tale with early dystopian interest that also imagines a solar system inhabited by other species, and "W. J." which centers around a future war in 1966-72.

Hugh Kingsmill Lunn (1889-1949) was a British writer, known primarily as a biographer and a literary critic. Apart from biographical works, he also penned novels and was noted for his sharp wit and critique. His friendship with writer H.G. Wells is also quite well-documented. Some of his well-known works include The Will to Love which he published in 1919, and a biography of Frank Harris, among others. Kingsmill had a broad literary output, including essays, criticism, biography, and fiction. Reportedly, he published The Dawn's Delay at his own expense.

Very good in scarce, original dust jacket. Both flaps and rear panel of the jacket have separated along folds, with front flap barely attached by deteriorating tape repair to the verso side. Small piece missing at crown of spine, otherwise jacket is mostly intact with small nicks and chips along the edges.
