The Novels of Philip K. Dick

First edition, 1984
Kim Stanley Robinson's doctoral thesis, completed in 1982 at the University of California, San Diego, and published in revised form by UMI Research Press in 1984 as part of its Studies in Speculative Fiction series. Robinson offers systematic literary analysis of Dick's novels, examining their philosophical preoccupations, narrative structures, and place in the science fiction tradition. Written before Robinson had established his own reputation as a novelist, the study is notable both as an early piece of serious academic engagement with Dick's work and as an artifact of Robinson's critical thinking at the start of his career. Now scarce in this hardcover edition.
