Sigmund Freud: His Exploration of the Mind of Man

Inscribed by Zilboorg
Sigmund Freud: His Exploration of the Mind of Man is a study of Freud's life and work by Gregory Zilboorg, one of the most prominent psychiatrists in mid-century America and a leading figure in the history of psychoanalysis in the United States. Zilboorg was also the translator responsible for the first English edition of Zamyatin's We (1924). Signed and inscribed by Zilboorg on the title page: "To Hal and Fran Babcock / affectionately / Gregory / Butler Hospital / September 1951." Hal Babcock was Dr. Henry H. Babcock, a prominent psychiatrist who ran the Butler Hospital in Providence, RI, and Gregory Zilboorg was a close personal friend of the family. Two lengthy handwritten letters from Zilboorg to the Babcocks are also laid in.
