PKDS: The Philip K. Dick Society Newsletter - Complete set of the first 20 issues published (1983-1989)
First edition, 1989
Stapled fanzines published between 1983 and 1989 by the Philip K. Dick Society, edited throughout by Paul Williams, Dick's close friend and literary executor. Printed as double-sided 8.5 x 11" sheets, each issue runs roughly 16 to 24 pages and includes articles, reviews, photographs, interviews, archival material, and other Dick-related content.
This is a complete run of the first twenty issues, including the double issue 9/10, which was issued only as a cassette tape. Side one features a conversation between Dick and Williams, and side two has Dick reading notes for a work in progress. The eighteen stapled issues are numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20. Three of these are pamphlet-sized issues containing previously published texts by Dick: Warning: We Are Your Police (issue 7), Nazism and The Man in the High Castle and Schizophrenia and the Book of Changes (issue 14), and Outline for Our Friends from Frolix 8 (issue 19).
Williams oversaw the first thirty issues before the newsletter transitioned into Radio Free PKD under editor Greg Lee. Some early issues were later reprinted; all items in this set are first printings. Also included is the 12-page PKDS Pamphlet No. 1, A Letter from Philip K. Dick: February 1, 1960, originally issued with the first newsletter. A numbered and signed variant exists, but this is the unnumbered, unsigned example.
Staplebound softcover. First Edition. 8.5" x 11" sheets. Glen Allen, CA: The Philip K. Dick Society, 1983-1989. #10956.
Fine set.
