Afterland

Afterland (2020) by Lauren Beukes is a dystopian thriller in which a pandemic called the Manfall has killed ninety-nine percent of the global male population, leaving surviving males sequestered as state property. The novel follows Cole as she flees across America disguising her young son as a girl, through a society reorganized under female rule that proves no less brutal than the one it replaced. The true first edition was a trade paperback published by Umuzi in South Africa. This is the first British hardcover edition.
