The Wayward Pines Trilogy: Pines; Wayward; The Last Town

Trade paperback originals, 2012-2014
Blake Crouch’s Wayward Pines trilogy combines the sinister small-town mystery with a tale of authoritarian rule and human survival. Secret Service agent Ethan Burke arrives in an apparently idyllic Idaho community where residents cannot leave, communication with the outside world is impossible, and questions about the past invite punishment. Beneath its familiar American surfaces, the town operates through constant surveillance, assigned employment and relationships, and compulsory participation in the public killing of dissenters.

As the trilogy reveals the purpose of this enclosed society, its central conflict becomes the claim that preserving humanity requires withholding the truth and abolishing personal freedom. A genuine danger beyond the perimeter gives that argument force, while the town’s creator increasingly treats the survival of his project as inseparable from obedience to himself. The trilogy became the basis for the television series Wayward Pines; Crouch’s later novel Dark Matter was also adapted for television.

Complete trilogy in the original trade paperback editions, in pictorial wrappers. The Last Town, the final book in the series, is signed by Crouch on the title page.
