Speaker for the Dead

Signed first edition, 1986
Speaker for the Dead (1986) is the sequel to Ender's Game, set three thousand years later on the colony world of Lusitania, where Ender Wiggin now travels to speak the death of a scientist killed in contact with an alien species. A philosophical novel about truth, memory, and the ethics of encounter, it is considerably quieter than its predecessor and more interested in anthropology than military conflict. Like Ender's Game, it won both the Hugo and Nebula Awards.
