The New Gods Lead

First edition, 1932
The New Gods Lead is a collection of ten connected stories by S. (Sydney) Fowler Wright. Many of the stories are dystopian and attack trends that Wright disagreed with in his time like birth control and the motor car. The story "The Rat" is about a doctor who discovers an immortality serum. "P.N 40" depicts a repressive future controlled by a eugenics movement. "The Choice: An Allegory of Blood and Tears" is a satire on the Christian conception of Heaven. The first edition is scarce, and rarely found with the original dust jacket.

Hardcover. First Edition, First Printing. Octavo original black cloth, spine panel stamped in gold. London: Jarrolds Publishers, 1932. #11099.
Fine copy in near fine bright dust jacket that has some white touch-ups around price on spine panel, light creasing, and some minor nicks and short closed tears at extremities with short snag tear on rear panel. An excellent example of this early work of dystopian fiction in the scarce original dust jacket.
