Canary In A Cat House

Canary in a Cat House is an early collection of twelve short stories by Kurt Vonnegut, showcasing his signature blend of satire, science fiction, and dark humor. Most of the stories were later reprinted in the collection Welcome to the Monkey House. Of interest in the collection is the dystopian "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow." Originally written by Vonnegut in 1953, the story appeared in Galaxy Science Fiction magazine under the title "The Big Trip Up Yonder." It was subsequently revised and republished in both Canary in a Cat House (1961) and Welcome to the Monkey House (1968). Set in the year 2185 A.D., it features a world transformed by a medicine that halts the aging process, resulting in severe overpopulation and resource scarcity.
