Canary In a Cat House

Canary in a Cat House (1961) is an early collection of twelve short stories by Kurt Vonnegut, most of which would later be reprinted in Welcome to the Monkey House (1968). The collection is of particular interest for containing "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow," its first book appearance. The story, originally published in Galaxy Science Fiction in 1953 under the title "The Big Trip Up Yonder," is set in a world where an anti-aging drug has produced centuries-long lifespans and catastrophic overpopulation. Vonnegut revised the text for both this collection and for Welcome to the Monkey House. First edition paperback original published by Gold Medal, 1961.
