Market Forces

Market Forces (2004) is Morgan's standalone novel and arguably the darkest satire in his body of work. Set in a near-future England of extreme economic stratification, it follows Chris Faulkner, a rising executive at a conflict investment firm, a corporation that funds third-world wars for profit. Corporate advancement is literally decided by road combat where executives challenge rivals to sanctioned highway duels, with the loser's career ending in death. Faulkner is skilled, ambitious, and increasingly complicit in atrocities he would once have found unthinkable. Morgan uses the premise to dissect the ideology of market fundamentalism. One of the more pointed pieces of anti-capitalist fiction of its decade. Signed by Morgan on the title page.
