The Pheasant (1982) is a short story published by Matacom Press in Worcester in a limited edition of 300 copies. Copy "J" of 26 lettered copies, hardbound by hand in marble paper-covered boards, issued for the personal use of the author and publishers. Additionally inscribed by Carver on the front free-endpaper: "For Bert Babcock / with my warm wishes. / Ray Carver / Durham! / Oct. 18, 1982." Bert Babcock published My Father's Life under the Babcock & Koontz imprint. Includes the original publisher's announcement prospectus. A notable association copy.
