Nick and the Glimmung

Philip K. Dick's Nick and the Glimmung is a children's science fiction novel written in 1966 but published posthumously in 1988. This fun, lighter tale is set within the same universe as his adult science fiction work, Galactic Pot-Healer. It follows Nick, his family, and their feline companion, Horace, as they flee Earth where it has become illegal to own pets and journey to the distant Plowman's Planet (Sirius Five). On Plowman's Planet, they become entangled in an age-old conflict with the planet’s quirky creatures (wubs, werjes, spiddles, printers, nunks, father-things, and trobes) and pulled into strange battle that features the mysterious alien Glimmung. Nick and the Glimmung stands as a unique work in Dick's literary repertoire, his only children's novel, which remained unpublished during his lifetime.
