Containment (Children of Occam, Book 1)
Inscribed first edition, 2010
Containment (2010) is the debut novel by Christian Cantrell, self-published through Lulu.com's print-on-demand service under his own Cantrell Media Company imprint. A hard science fiction novel with dystopian underpinnings, it follows Arik Ockley, a member of the first generation born on a Venusian colony established after Earth's environmental collapse. When his wife becomes unexpectedly pregnant, threatening a colony already stretched to its life-support limits, Arik pursues a solution in artificial photosynthesis, and in doing so begins to uncover the constructed reality the colony's founders have maintained. The novel draws on environmental dystopia and false reality as its central mechanisms. This paperback original does not display a print history on the copyright page. The last page carries a POD barcode and date of "29 September 2010," confirming production in the year of publication.
