Equinox (Children of Occam, Book 2)
Signed trade paperback original, 2015
Equinox (2015) is the second and concluding volume of Cantrell's Children of Occam series, published by 47North, Amazon's science fiction and fantasy imprint. Set in a future where Earth survives under a dense greenhouse atmosphere and depends on solar power relayed from the orbital station Equinox, it depicts a tense, mutually dependent relationship between the surface population and the Coronians, descendants of scientists marooned in space. The fragile arrangement begins to collapse around Ayla Novik, a smuggler, and Luka Mance, a technician contending with addiction. The novel is primarily concerned with resource dependence, environmental deterioration, and the political volatility that develops between populations whose survival is bound together but whose interests have long since diverged.
