"My Life In Stillness: White as Day" in Last Wave. Volume One. Number One

"My Life in Stillness: White as Day" is a poem by Philip K. Dick that first appeared posthumously in Last Wave magazine's debut issue (October 1983). The poem is introduced by Kirsten Nelson, the wife of author Ray Nelson who was a good friend of Dick's and collaborated with him on novel The Ganymede Takeover. KN claims the poem was written for her and included with a letter sent to her by Dick. From the letter, she quotes: “And now, dear Kirsten, here’s a poem I wrote for you, the only one I ever wrote in my adult life. (I used to write them when I was a child, but no more. Because, except for you, I never feel the way I once did, the way I used to.)” The poem appears on pages 26 and 27 of the magazine. Other contributors include: Steve Rasnic Tem, Avram Davidson, Thomas M. Disch, Jessica Amanda Salmonson, Kirsten Nelson, and John Sladek. There were only five issues of Last Wave magazine ever published, all from October 1983 to Winter 1986. 8.5" x 11.5" stapled wrappers, printed in blue and white.
