Kabu Kabu (2013) is Okorafor's debut short story collection, gathering twenty-one stories drawn from Nigerian and West African mythology, folklore, and speculative fiction, with a foreword by Whoopi Goldberg. The title refers to informal unlicensed taxis common in Nigeria. Very scarce true first printing of this trade paperback original with deckled page edges and French folding flaps. Distinct from later printings produced on demand on cheaper paper, identifiable by a barcode and date printed on the last page.
