Morlock Night

Paperback original, 1979
Morlock Night (1979) is a steampunk adventure in which the Morlocks of H. G. Wells's The Time Machine commandeer the time machine and invade Victorian London. Jeter is credited with coining the term steampunk in a 1987 letter to Locus, identifying his own work and that of Tim Powers and James Blaylock as sharing a Victorian aesthetic distinct from cyberpunk. Morlock Night is among the earliest examples of the motif. DAW Books paperback original.
